One day the great samurai Massao Kazuo falls ill, and no doctor in Japan can cure him. Her son Mito remembers the legend of the thousand cranes that says that if you want something with a lot of force and you make a thousand of these origami figures, the gods will grant you that wish you are looking for. Mitio thinks that maybe this is the only opportunity to save his father.

Un día el gran samurái Massao Kazuo enferma y ningún médico en Japón puede curarlo. Mitio, su hijo, recuerda la leyenda de las mil grullas que dice que si deseas algo con mucha fuerza y haces mil de estas figuras de origami, los dioses te concederán ese deseo que tanto anhelas. Entonces Mitio piensa que quizá esa sea la única oportunidad para salvar a su padre.
